Saturday, 17th September will definitely be a day to remember in the Park Nursing Home. Limerick Vintage Car Club arrived during what turned out to be a beautiful afternoon to a joyous welcome by residents, families members and the nursing home care team. The reaction of the residents was pure joy.
Adding to the celebration Carmel O’Carroll, the activities co-ordinator, had organised live music in the foyer, followed by a very fun round of karaoke. Both residents and staff took to the mic – such a great atmosphere.
Director of Nursing, Noreen O’Brien, said “Our residents are wonderful, engaging and inspiring people so this was a great opportunity for special moments to be shared between them, their families and friends, and staff”
Our Chef Louise deserves a special mention – she baked a fresh cream cake for Frank, one of our new residents, as she does for all birthday celebrations. Louise also served up some scrumptious fresh fish and chips for everyone to enjoy, in the ‘proper’ old Irish style that our residents held fond memories of. Everything went down a treat.
To close out the fun afternoon an ice-cream van was organised to serve up some delicious fresh ice-cream – so delicious some went for seconds!. We were blessed with the nice weather and hearing the ice-cream van jingle get louder as it drove up to the home entrance just topped off what was a hugely successful event. The ice-cream van jingle alone brought back beautiful memories for our residents.
“Events like this provide us with an opportunity to connect our very special residents with their community. It also enables us to celebrate the outstanding care provided by the fantastic dedicated staff in our nursing homes, who enhance the lives of our residents every day with care, compassion and dignity.” said Carmel O’Carroll, activities co-ordinator at The Park.
A special thanks to all involved in the organising of this special day for residents, families and staff.
