Millhouse Care Centre, New Ross, recently celebrated 10 years of caring for older people in Wexford. Tracy Phillips, Director of Nursing at Millhouse, thanked all her staff for their hard work, compassion and the care they give to residents each and every day at Millhouse.
A competition for residents, relatives, visitors and staff was recently hosted byCloverlodge Nursing Home to ‘name our corridors’. It was fitting that the entire Cloverlodge community would be invited to take part, and that our residents would be involved in naming key areas of their home-from-home.
At Kilmainhamwood Nursing Home we work hard to ensure that our residents retain their independence, and we provide a varied diary of events and activities to help them do this, activities that residents enjoyed prior to moving to Kilmainhamwood. Travel/excursions is something the majority of our residents enjoyed so we try and organise as many outings as possible.
Kathleen Wilkinson had been Director of Nursing at Roseville House, a 40-bed nursing home in Ballysimon, Limerick, for 12 years, having worked in the home as a nurse for 9 years previous. Kathleen's colleagues, past and present, marked her departure with a party when she was presented with flowers and gifts.
Activities that take our residents outdoors are always particularly pleasurable, especially when those activities link our residents with their former hobbies and interests, including gardening. As many of our Adare and District Nursing Home residents love to garden, or just sit and look at the flowers growing outside, the care team wanted to add colour and brightness to the outdoor space, and add to the life and culture of our residents’ home-from-home.

Every Friday and Saturday afternoon our Ballincollig Community Nursing Unitresidents love to gather together in the ‘movie theatre’ for special movie screenings – they relish the classic black and whites.
As well as looking after every care need of our residents, we endeavor to provide as wide a range of daily activities as possible to cater for their social and therapeutic needs and interests - we are always guided by their freedom to choose.
