Dear Colleagues,
Firstly, I would like to thank everyone in the organisation for their heroic commitment and service during this Covid-19 pandemic. We have handled the response to the pandemic with professionalism, commitment and compassion. The pandemic presented many challenges and brought the nursing home sector into the media spotlight for all the wrong reasons. However we have emerged a stronger more focused and compassionate team.
The environment is changing and the future of nursing homes services will evolve to ensure that nursing homes are an integral part of community based healthcare, as articulated in the Government’s Sláintecare strategy and the Covid19 Nursing Homes Expert Panel recommendations.
We are planning for this new future through the development of our existing facilities and the design of new facilities. We can now announce the development of five new nursing homes: –
- Charleville, Co Cork – 60 beds, planned opening mid 2022
- Tramore Co Waterford – 93 beds, planned opening late 2022
- Golf Links Road, Kilkenny City – 90 beds, planned opening early 2023
- Kilbarry, Waterford City – 90 beds, planned opening mid 2023
- Leopardstown, Co Dublin – 150 beds, planned opening late 2023
We currently operate 28 residential care facilities consisting of 1,771 beds with 1,700 caring and compassionate staff. These exciting new developments will complement our existing facilities and help us spearhead the development of care and facilities which enhance the quality of life for all our residents. These developments will also open new opportunities and career progression for many of our team.
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to caring for our residents – The Mowlam Way.
Yours sincerely,
Pat Shanahan
