Welcome to Kilrush Nursing Home and Memory Care Centre, our modern purpose built nursing home where we provide a high standard of care 24 hours a day.
With a growing number of specialist Memory Care Centres throughout Ireland we provide enriched and fulfilling Centres of Excellence for people living with dementia, Alzheimer’s and other cognitive impairments, and their families.
Our residents have varying needs from specialist support and help with everyday living to those who just need a helping hand to retain some independence. Some stay with us on a permanent basis whilst others stay for short periods of time.
Supporting the Director of Nursing each home has a dedicated team of staff nurses, senior healthcare assistants, healthcare assistants, activity coordinator, social care practitioner, allied healthcare professionals and ancillary staff, who’s focus is to enhance the lives of the elderly residents in their care.

Daily activities are designed to nurture residents’ spirits by preserving familiar life skills that bring a sense of purpose.
Our Memory Care team creates personalised programmes with multi-sensory experiences, such as exercise, gardening, intergenerational activities, and pet therapy, tailored to individual needs. Activities are offered one-on-one or in small groups with shared interests.
Facilities include ensuite bedrooms, sitting and dining rooms, and a secure garden with sensory features, an orchard, walkways, bird feeders, and a patio for barbecues or relaxation on sunny days.
Nursing Home Care
Our long term residents make Kilrush their new home-from-home when they are no longer able to live alone, either through illness or disability. We offer best-practice medical, nursing, rehabilitation and therapeutic services in a nurturing, safe and homely environment.
Respite Care
Some of our residents are with us for short-term respite care after acute medical care in a hospital, where they are ready to be discharged, but are not quite well enough to manage at home on their own yet. We offer skilled, individualised rehabilitation care, nursing and associated therapies.

We promote choice at all times and do everything we can to enable our residents to enjoy a full life.
Health & Wellbeing Living with Purpose
We empower residents to live as full, independent, and active a life as possible. Our activity coordinators and social care practitioners design personalised weekly calendars, based on residents’ preferences and needs, offering a variety of engaging and enriching activities.
Residents enjoy music, singing, light exercise, gardening, games, beauty pampering, excursions, and social gatherings, alongside time for personal hobbies or quiet relaxation. Activities foster connection among residents, staff, family, and friends, turning each day into an opportunity to Live With Purpose.

Age-Friendly Healthcare
Mowlam Healthcare is thrilled to be the FIRST in Ireland to have our residential care facilities formally recognised by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement IHI as participants in becoming an Age Friendly Health System (AFHS). The participant status is a formal recognition that Mowlam has adopted the IHI 4Ms Framework – an evidence-based approach to care delivery founded on ‘What Matters’ to the resident, as a fundamental cornerstone of high-quality care.
Nutrition and Dietary Health
- We pride ourselves on the quality of our food that is all home made by our excellent and experienced team of cooks and chefs.
- We only use the finest, fresh ingredients and all meals are nutritionally balanced and freshly prepared daily.
- Residents are consulted on a regular basis with regard to fresh additions to the menu. Residents’ choice guides everything we do.
- We regularly host special afternoon tea parties for residents and families. Every birthday is celebrated with fresh cake.
