Transitional Care
Following treatment in an acute hospital it is often necessary for older patients to spend a further period recovering, particularly following surgery, major illnesses and accidents. When this recovery period requires ongoing medical monitoring, rehabilitation or re-enablement, Mount Carmel Community Hospital is there to help patients with their expressed desire to make a speedy recover and return home.
Our bedrooms are located on the ground and first floor. We have a dedicated care team working diligently to ensure all our patients are happy and comfortable during their stay with us.
Medical & Post Operative Care
Round the clock nursing care and treatments appropriate to your condition. Dedicated on-site medical doctor with Consultant support to ensure that your medication, physiotherapy and medical care are optimised. A short stay in Mount Carmel Hospital offers our patients comprehensive nursing and medical care, but in a more comfortable and homely environment.

Patients have varying needs, depending on their medical condition, and our experienced care team includes a fully trained team of nurses, healthcare assistants physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dieticians, speech and language therapists, working together to help patients make a full and speedy recovery.
Types of Age Friendly Care
Mowlam Healthcare is thrilled to be the FIRST in Ireland to have our residential care facilities formally recognised by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement IHI as participants in becoming an Age Friendly Health System (AFHS). The participant status is a formal recognition that Mowlam has adopted the IHI 4Ms Framework. This framework is an evidence-based approach to care delivery founded on ‘What Matters’ to the resident, as a fundamental cornerstone of high-quality care.
